The Yankees Will Look To Improve Their Roster for 2020
The Yankees will look to improve their roster, despite what some wannabe reporters will tell you. We'll preview what the Yankees 2020 rotation and roster will look like. We'll also look at 3 Yankee Captains and discuss their chances of Hall of Fame induction.
Yankee pitchers had a post-season ERA of 2.27 against two of the best hitting teams in the game. I can only imagine what that ERA would be if Ottovino had pitched as well as he has normally.
General manager Brian Cashman might be making decisions for the New York Yankees at the executive level, but the influence of Hal Steinbrenner cannot be overlooked. The owner of the Bronx Bombers stated that the team doesn’t need to add to their starting pitching rotation with Luis Severino and Jordan Montgomery returning in featured roles next season.
“For the most part, I think our starting pitching was good this year,’’ Steinbrenner said. “Even missing [Luis] Severino and [Jordan] Montgomery [for most or all of the season due to injuries].”
He didn’t say they aren’t going to sign a Free Agent pitcher. Why are people saying this? You’re dealing with Scott Boras on Cole, Strasburg and Rendon.. it’s been suggested Zack Wheeler might be an option.

Seven #Yankees have officially become free agents: Dellin Betances, Brett Gardner, Cory Gearrin, Didi Gregorius, Cameron Maybin, Austin Romine & CC Sabathia. (Yes, CC is retired)
The Yankees did not make a qualifying offer to Didi Gregorius.
Aroldis Chapman will not opt out of his deal with the Yankees, who added another year at $18M to his current contract, a source confirmed. So the closer is now signed through 2022 for a total of $48M.

Cone met with Cashman, Boone and other members of the Yankees baseball operations department for several hours. Called it an “interesting” process and was glad he had the chance to do it. Said he’s not sure where things will go from here.
